About This Project

Do you remember Jiri Bubenicek, the young Czech choreographer who wowed Charlotte audiences in our production of his Le souffle de l’esprit two years ago? His piece, which included North Carolina Dance Theatre dancers dressed in white, dancing in front of images by da Vinci, was hailed for the way it reveled “in the body’s ability to reach, flex, fold, cold and propel itself through space.” We look forward to Jiri’s return in a few weeks to create a new work specifically for our company and fans, which will be included as part of our Contemporary Fusion series at the Knight Theater, April 25-27. AND we are excited to offer you the chance to be part of the creation of this new work!

Jiri’s new ballet will showcase beautiful fluid costumes and lighting and scenic design that transforms the work from the choreographer’s vision to an unforgettable experience for the audience. You can help make this possible through your support!

Our commissioners and underwriters have an impact on North Carolina Dance Theatre’s ballets in the most intimate and unique way possible. We have a lead commissioner for this project, and he has challenged us to find additional support in individuals like you, who have not been part of this process before. For a limited time, Wells Fargo is also providing a 1:1 match for this project to help us find new supporters and double the impact of each gift!

The time is now – you can help bring to life a dance work that touches an entire audience, providing them an experience that evokes emotion, inspiration and awe. During the process, you can also have the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with the artists involved in EVERY aspect of the work, from the choreographer to our dancers, designers and artistic staff. We need your help, and every dollar counts – give today and make twice the impact, then come see Jiri’s new ballet at the Knight Theater April 25-27!
