Support ABA to pay teachers, technology and rent for a continued premier ballet education

About the Project

Akhmedova Ballet Academy’s (ABA) highest priority is everybody’s health, safety and sanity. The world health pandemic has affected everyone’s community and changed lives including ours.

We need your support and contributions to sustain ABA through those difficult times. With a matching gift pledged by the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, your contribution will go twice as far! Our goal is to raise $10,000 by end of April before the matching gift funds run out. Making your donation right now helps guarantee us the matching funds.

Doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have closed our brand-new state-of-the-art studios. Your contribution will support virtual classes with essential new software and hardware. In order for ABA to open its doors again and get back on pointe as soon as this crisis is over, we urgently need your support to continue passing on the beauty, grace, intricacies and heritage of this classic art form.

This shutdown happened in the middle of our audition season for new students. It has been quite devastating for our summer intensives and year-round programs which recruit nationally and internationally. Students have canceled auditions and were unable to see our facilities. Because of the uncertainty of how long this situation will last and when audiences will return to the theater, ABA had to cancel our spring performance which is a significant revenue loss. We are unable to continue paying our esteemed faculty which might result in them not coming back to ABA.

In order to keep our organization alive, we must hire back quality teaching staff and pay the rent on the new studio. We urge you to take advantage of this unique matching funds opportunity to help and support our dedicated dancers and professional teachers. Matching funds are limited so please donate now. Thank you for your generous contribution.

ABA is the premier professional ballet training program in Montgomery County that serves the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan area as well as nationally and internationally. Your support will ensure that we are able to continue offer the highest quality training to gifted students, nurture the talent of tomorrow's ballet professionals and sustain the professional community of dance teachers and artists. The program utilizes the Vaganova Method in which some of the greatest ballet dancers such as Nureyev, Makarova, Baryshnikov, Zakharova, Vasiliev, and Osipova were trained.

The Akhmedova Ballet Academy is dedicated to provide the finest quality ballet training utilizing the Vaganova Method with personal and artistic mentoring to prepare young talented dancers to become strong and fully developed artists ready to take their places in major dance companies around the world.
