Help build bridges between marginalized groups in Atlanta by supporting Theatre that uplifts the voices of its community.
About the Project
Synchronicity
Theatre has focused on bringing theatre and community together since its
inception in 1997. Our mission is to produce smart, gutsy, bold theatre that
uplifts the voices of women and girls and sparks community conversations. We commit to theatrical experiences that are
powerful, transformative and go beyond the theatre walls. For all of our shows, we work with community partners from the Atlanta
area to enhance discussion around the important issues being raised by our work
as well as to provide outreach and
service opportunities to engage audiences in powerful dialogue and transformative
change. This year is no different!
This spring and summer,
we will proudly present the World Premiere of Andrea Lepcio’s Strait of Gibraltar and the Regional
Southeastern Premiere of Danai Gurira’s Eclipsed.
Both of these exciting shows focus on bringing the voices of marginalized
communities into the mainstream to discuses issues of race, religion and war. Strait of Gibraltar is about the
relationship between a young Jewish woman and a young Muslim man and what
happens to their relationship when they fall in love. Eclipsed tells the story of 5 Liberian women trapped in the country
during the civil war. Both shows are uniquely
positioned to expose audiences to new cultures and perspectives.
As part of our work
surrounding these two shows we are partnering with numerous community
organizations to present post-show discussions, event panels and service
projects. You can be a part of empowering and uplifting these voices by
supporting this campaign. Your support
will help us create service opportunities around Atlanta as well as launch
these two amazing premieres. Help us build bridges between our communities and
donate now!
Funds raised through Power2Give will go to support moderated talkbacks after each show, community service projects with our community partners, promoting engagement events and to help fund the performers and artists who makes these shows possible.
Community Partners Include: The
Ben Marion Institute for Social Justice, Emory Center for Arts & Ethics,
The Anti Defamation League, Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, Jewish Federation of
Greater Atlanta, Islamic Speaker’s Bureau of Greater Atlanta, Interfaith
Community Initiatives, The Pluralism Project, Neshema Interfaith Center,
