Help Bring Independent Filmmakers to Atlanta, March 24-April 2, 2017!

About the Project

For over 40 years, the Academy Award® qualifying Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF) has been the home to independent filmmakers by leading the community in creative and cultural discovery through the moving image.  Georgia is now #3 in Film/TV production, with a $6.2 Billion Dollar industry, and produces over 200 productions a year.  The Atlanta Film Festival is the gateway to Georgia’s booming film industry.

ATLFF is an internationally respected festival and this year ATLFF will screen over 150 films representing more than 30 countries over the course of 10 days during March 24-April 2, 2017. The Festival provides rich opportunities to experience works of local, regional, national and international filmmakers across a variety of disciplines including narrative, documentary, animation, puppetry, experimental and music, from a record 5,000+ submissions received from 130 countries.

In addition, this year the festival will feature the seventh iteration of the Creative Conference, a 5-day seminar series event that presents roughly 40 presentations and panels covering screenwriting, producing, animation and music, led by local and national community leaders, industry experts, filmmakers and businesses.  Anchored in Ponce-Highlands at The Plaza Theatre, Little 5 Points at 7 Stages, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and other notable locations in Atlanta (including the Rialto and the High Museum), the festival screenings will include question and answer sessions with 400 visiting and local filmmakers for over 27,000+ festival attendees.

The Festival is produced by a total budget of $705,205. While crucial partnerships and effective uses of technology help keep costs down, certain costs, for example hotel, transportation and related costs for filmmakers, become not only increasingly expensive but also virtually impossible to be funded solely by partnerships as they once were in the past.

Filmmaker participation is an essential part of the festival experience, and we want to return the travel and lodging budget to its former strength.
All funds this campaign collects will bring filmmakers and industry members to Atlanta in March and April. Your donation will assist in filling the gaps not covered by sponsorships and partnerships to make the festival a success by helping us to purchase plane tickets, provide housing and car rentals for our filmmakers. ATLFF is the only independent major film festival in Atlanta so it relies on the support of the community to make it possible.

The organization's mission is to lead the community in creative and cultural discovery through the moving image.  Your support of the 2017 Atlanta Film Festival and the moving image will help the festival increase filmmaker participation and ensure that the 41st festival is a success! Support the  Atlanta Film Festival Family today.  Thank you!
