Celebrating 42 years of Creating Original Art for and with Communities

About the Project

Ongoing Free Arts Program

Help Gateway continue to provide free programming for under-served populations  -- (senior citizens, younger adults and youth) in community partnership with the Helene S. Mills Senior Multipurpose Facility, the Auburn Neighborhood Senior Center, the Atlanta - Fulton Public Library (Southeast Branch) and AM 1690 – Voice of the Arts Radio. These weekly and monthly free programs include creative writing and visual art classes and workshops with Gateway’s award-winning master artists Sandra Hughes and Michael Hickey as well as exhibits, performances and broadcast/podcast programs of creative writing and visual art by participants.

Your support will also make it possible to continue to offer
free workshops in percussive dance as well as awards of free rehearsal/performance space to emerging and established Atlanta artists for the creation of new work of exceptional artistic vision and/or cultural merit at Gateway‘s seventeen-year-old venue, The Mask Center,  located in the Little 5 Points Center for Arts and Culture.

New Audiences

Support Gateway’s participation in a community partnership with Synchronicity Theatre as part of the creative team for The One and Only Ivan, about a gorilla caged at the Big Top Mall for 27 years who was rescued and brought to live at  Zoo Atlanta. This production  -- a true story based on the NY Times bestselling book -- will attract new family and youth audiences when it opens in midtown early in 2017.
