Help ClancyWorks bring dance to new audiences & deepen our community connections as we explore resilience from a global perspective.

About the Project

ClancyWorks Dance Company, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization now in it’s 18th Season, is seeking your support as we continue to build our audiences across the globe. In conjunction with our recent performance at the University of New Mexico and Dr. Clancy’s upcoming choreographic residency in the UK, we see a perfect opportunity for us to build new audiences and deepen community connections in these geographic areas. We are asking for your contribution, so that we can cover the costs associated with expanding our geographic outreach strategy, building new community connections beyond our local area, and developing opportunities to increase the impact of our most recent performance work, "The Resilience Project."

What are they saying about ClancyWorks Dance Company?

"Calmness and fluidity combined with Clancy's intense physicality… Gravity-defying moves, creative lifts and intricately woven phrases…" -- Washington Post

"Physical and conceptual vigor…Shadows spilled across the stage, bringing mythical dimension." -- The Richmond Times Dispatch

"Spotlight-grabbing moves with fabulous partnering." -- Los Angeles Times

ClancyWorks Dance Company was founded in 2001 by Artistic Director Dr. Adrienne Clancy. ClancyWorks' aim is to help enhance the quality of life for people in many communities, using the arts as a way to develop mutual understanding and to advance positive social action. We do this through four program areas of focus:

  • Quality Performances
  • Arts In Education
  • Community Engagement
  • Professional Development
Our Mission:

  1. To increase the public appetite for and understanding of the arts by presenting high quality dance performance and educational programs;
  2. To expand the relevance of dance in people’s lives by demonstrating that creative movement can be used to solve conflicts, develop community cohesion, improve academic achievement, and promote civic responsibility;
  3. And, to nurture leadership skills and artistic excellence in emerging artists.

What is architecturally informed partnering work? Their principles of partnerships and collaborative practices are woven throughout each of their program areas. ClancyWorks is particularly known for its’ exploration of what they call “architecturally informed partnering work.”  It’s a unique way of bringing people together within dance, not only to make an aesthetic statement, but also as a source of powerful imagery that embraces diversity and exemplifies trust. ClancyWorks is passionate about their efforts to combine physically demanding and powerful movement with the sensitive portrayal of cultural nuances and personal emotions.

How will these funds be used?

  • Developing new residency activities, in conjunction with already scheduled programming, at local colleges and universities, studios and community arts centers.
  • Artist fees, including rehearsal, production, and performance costs.
  • Covering partial travel & housing costs, for up to three dancers, while on the road and in the air.
  • Documentation of these tours, including video and social media coverage.
