The Cultural Council is the official support agency for arts and culture for Palm Beach County serving non-profit organizations, individual artists and arts districts. The Council promotes the county’s cultural experiences through an integrated program of advertising, public relations and marketing activities to both visitors and residents. Each year, the Council administers more than $3.5 million in grants, supports arts and cultural education, provides capacity building training and advocates for funding and arts-friendly policies. Located in the historic Robert M. Montgomery building in downtown Lake Worth, the Council mounts a series of group and solo exhibitions featuring Palm Beach County artists and provides other programming.
Who created Power2Give?
Power2Give.org is a project of the Arts & Science Council--Charlotte/Mecklenburg, Inc. (ASC). ASC, located in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a non-profit whose mission is to build appreciation, participation and support for the arts, science, history and heritage in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Power2give.org/palmbeachcounty is managed by the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Palm Beach County, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and economic growth of the community by creating a cultural destination through support, education and promotion of arts and culture.
How does it work?
501(c)(3) nonprofit arts and cultural organizations located in Palm Beach County are eligible to post arts, science, history and heritage projects in need of funding. Individuals visit the site and make donations directed to projects about which they are passionate. The donations are made to the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, which is a 501(c)(3) organization, and has the ultimate authority to use the contributions at the Council's discretion for purposes consistent with the exempt purposes of The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. That said, it is the Cultural Council's expressed intention to distribute gifted donations to those charities that are chosen by the donor. ASC manages the operations of the website. ASC takes about 12 cents of every dollar to cover administrative costs, which is below the national fundraising standards of 20%.
Can I fund only part of a project?
Yes, you can contribute as much as you like to projects as long as it is over $1 and your donation is in whole dollar amounts.
How do I redeem a gift card?
Whether the gift card is a physical card or an electronic gift card, the recipient can type in the voucher number on the site to redeem the card and donate to a project.
What happens if the project I fund isn't fully funded by the end of its posting period?
The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County intends to provide the donations to the project poster and host organization even if the project is not fully funded. In that case, the project poster and host organization will notify you as to how they plan to adapt their project.
Can my gift(s) be refunded?
No, the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County does not have the capacity to provide refunds for gifts at this time. However, if you have questions or concerns as to how your gift is being used, please contact the power2give team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I write a check to make a donation?
Only credit cards and gift certificates are accepted at this time.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes. Power2give.org/palmbeachcounty is a project of the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, a 501(c)(3) organization. Therefore, your donation is fully tax deductible, less the value of any donor benefit you receive that has monetary value. Your receipt from Power2Give will reflect this. Many donor benefits do not have cash value and your donation in that case is fully deductible.
How am I acknowledged for my gift?
You will receive an automatic e-mail receipt from power2give for your records. You will also receive additional communications from the organization(s) you supported.
What are the donor benefits?
Donor benefits are incentives provided by the project poster to give back to the donor in small ways that make them feel even more connected to the particular project
How do I redeem my donor benefits?
The project poster will contact you shortly after the project has been fully funded or expired to distribute donor benefits.
Is my online donation secure?
Yes. power2give.org has a valid SSL security certificate and works with responsible and verified vendors to ensure your information is safe and secure.
When will my credit card be charged if I use a card to make a donation?
Your credit card will be processed and charged immediately upon payment
Is there a minimum donation?
$1.00 is the minimum gift you can make on power2give.
How do I know the project I give to will use my funds appropriately?
All projects posted on the site are by certified 501(c)3 organizations who have been approved by the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County to request funding for their projects. While the Arts & Science Council, Fractured Atlas (the site platform) and power2give.org do not personally endorse any of the projects on the site, we put in these qualifications to ensure the quality of the organizations submitting projects. In addition, the project organization will send follow up information detailing the execution and results of the project to show how your funds were used.
What are the ways I can get involved with a project aside from donating?
You can help promote projects through email and social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, blogs, etc.

What are the terms and conditions when using a gift card?
Gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash and can only be used to donate to projects on power2give.org. You must use the gift card in its entirety when donating. Gift cards expire on September 30, 2016, at which time the card amount will be put back into the site for web hosting fees and development.

Who can post a project?
501(c)(3) arts and cultural organizations located in Palm Beach County that have been approved to post projects by the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. To see if your organization is eligible, please contact the Cultural Council at email@example.com.
How do I get started?
Everyone using power2give must first sign up as an individual. You will not be asked for your organization's information in this first step. After you have registered, you will receive an email confirmation. Please follow the email's instructions. After confirmation, you can log into power2give and click on the Create a Campaign tab to begin posting a project for your organization.
What information is required to post a project?
Project Title, Funding Amount (not to exceed $10,000), Project Start Date, Project End Date, Posting Start Date, Posting End Date (not to exceed 90 days), Project Categories, Project Photo, and Project Narrative are needed to submit a project. Videos are recommended.
What are my responsibilities as a Fundraiser?
Fundraisers are responsible for submitting all information and ensuring that it is truthful and accurate; marketing your projects to your constituencies and potential donors; thanking donors and distributing donor benefits; and following up with donors upon project completion. The Cultural Council requires all Fundraisers to track and report the number of new donors and their total contribution for each project.
What happens if I forgot my password?
Simply click the Forgot Password link under the log in box to reset your password. You will be sent a new password via email and be directed to change it.
How do I update information in my account?
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are unable to make changes to your Fundraiser profile.
What happens if my project is only partially funded when it expires?
All donations on power2give are made directly to the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. It is the Cultural Council's intention to honor the expressed purpose of the gift by directing those dollars to the organization and project chosen by the donor. It is the Cultural Council's intention to provide donations to qualified 501(c)(3) posting organizations even if the project is only partially funded when it expires. In such case, it is then your responsibility to keep all donors informed as to how the project might change as a result of receiving less funding than requested.
What happens if I don't thank my donors?
While donors will receive an automatically system-generated email thanking them for their gift, power2give.org requires all posters to separately send a thank you to donors (either electronically or by mail). By not thanking donors you not only run the risk of losing donor loyalty.
Why am I required to upload a photo to my project?
Our goal is to make projects as compelling and visually appealing as possible. Having a photograph associated with the projects displayed next to the project title helps connect donors more to your cause.
What if I don't have a photo of my project or permission to upload photos of actual people?
The picture you submit should reflect your project and be compelling but does not necessarily have to be of a particular person. Your organization's logo or a picture of an object or place associated with your project are also appropriate options.
Are videos required?
Videos are not required at this time but are highly recommended. The success rate for achieving full funding has been demonstrated on other crowd-funding sites to be dramatically improved when a short video is included.
When does an account become deactivated? What does it mean for the Fundraiser?
power2give.org exists to make the giving experience as engaging as possible for both the organizations and the donors. To ensure the integrity of the site and the trust the donor puts into power2give.org, we may choose to deactivate any user if they are in violation of the Terms & Conditions. The most egregious include posters who have been found to be misusing funds, not properly thanking donors in a timely fashion, and not fulfilling donor benefits. However, power2give.org has the sole discretion for deactivating users if given valid reason.
Can I edit my project narrative or information once I submit it for review or once it has been posted to the site?
You cannot edit a project once the information has been posted. However, if you have necessary changes, contact the Cultural Council's power2give team at email@example.com and we will make the edits.
When will I receive the funds from my project?
It is the Cultural Council's intention to donate the funds received from your project within 30 days after the project has either fully funded or it expires.
How do I know who donated to my project and how much?
As donors give to your project, you will receive a notification of the gift that includes the gift amount, donor name, and donor email so you will always have a continuous stream indicating who is donating to your project. You can always access all donor information to any of your projects by selecting "Donor Reports" from the drop down menu in the upper right part of the Project Dashboard page. From there you select the project and download the data to your hard drive as a CSV (Excel) file.
Why does the Cultural Council withhold a 12% administrative fee?
This administrative fee makes it possible for the Council to facilitate the power2give program. It pays the credit card fees, the website hosting organization and the Cultural Council as site administrator to keep the site fresh and current.
Do I have to account for the 12% administrative fee when I am calculating the funding amount for my project or will power2give factor it in?
Yes, we suggest that you add 13.637% to the project budget so the total amount of funding received is not affected.
Is there a minimum or maximum amount a project can cost?
There is no minimum amount. The maximum project amount is $10,000 in Palm Beach County. Larger projects can be divided into phases if appropriate. Fundraisers can post a new projects one after another.
Can I re-submit an expired project?
If a project has expired but was not fully funded, it may be resubmitted, but we recommend you revise and edit it to try a different approach to receive the full funding amount.
What does my project duration mean?
The Cultural Council will only approve projects that end within 90 days from the posting start date. After a project’s ending date, the project will be removed from the site regardless of whether it has been fully funded.
How many projects can I have active on power2give.org at once?
There is no limit on the amount of projects you can have submitted to the site at once - However, only one campaign may be active at any given time. Space your start and end dates appropriately.
How do I make my project interesting and compelling for donors?
Start with a compelling title, colorful picture, a great video and descriptive narrative.
Are there any precautions I should take when submitting my project photo and video?
Ensure that your pictures and videos are appropriate and may be legally used by your organization. If you are submitting a photo of a person, please ensure you have their permission to use their photo as a part of power2give.org.
What if my organization is unable to complete the project directly following the time we receive the funds?
If your organization plans to complete the project at a later date, please make this clear in the project narrative and when you follow up with your donors who have given to the project. The tangible connection to the project is an important piece of your donor loyalty.
Why won't my YouTube video link properly?
Make sure that you are using the actual URL for the video and not the shortcut URL that YouTube provides. The actual URL is the one in the navigation bar at the top of the browser window.
What size should the image file be for my project?
Photos should be no more than 250 pixels x 250 pixels or 100KB in size.

What is a sponsor?
A sponsor contributes money in the form of matching dollars or donations to a project or projects on power2give.org.
Can I choose which specific projects or types of projects I sponsor?
Yes, you are able to have complete control over which projects your organization contributes to, and we can help you tailor it to your organization's strategic goals and priorities.
Can my logo appear on the site if I am a corporate sponsor?
Yes! We will place your logo with each project you sponsor. It will appear on both the "Project Listing Page" and individual "Project Detail Page".
